If it's spam that means it really doesn't serve any purpose other than to annoy visitors enough to click on advertising or signup forms.

In my opinion, content spamming is giving out content in places where it is not welcome.

Content spam. Until now you never actually saw the phrase on SEO Theory (although I did write this article for content spammers a few months ago). “Content spam” is not exactly the latest SEO buzzword but people are searching for answers to the question on SEO Theory. I will share with you what I know and think about “content spam”.

If it’s spam that means it really doesn’t serve any purpose other than to annoy visitors enough to click on advertising or signup forms. Some people might call this “lead generation”, “advertising copy”, or “relevant context”.
Internet spam is abusive because there is so much of it. The people who resort to spam generally follow the principle of “if ONE is good then TEN THOUSAND will be orgasmic for me”. Whether you are using email spam, news group (Usenet) spam, link spam, or content spam it’s all the same: too much of something that is generally NOT noteworthy or worth caring about.

On the Web it’s easy enough to identify content spam because:
It’s only there to provide context for advertising (or a lead gen form) — OR
It’s only there to provide context for 1 or more promotional links — OR
It’s there to serve as a place holder and still try to get some traffic
