Internal page links in Auditor Projects

Postby manuel » Mon May 28, 2012 7:18 pm

When a page contains internal page links (ex: a href="#top"), they get crawled and evaluated by the Auditor, just as regular links.
This creates false "duplicate title" entries and pollutes the regular "Auditor Reports" with lots of duplicate entries.

Maybe if a # is detected in a URL, you could concider it an internal page link (using php strstr)?

I was hoping to see it fixed in 3.2.0 but admittedly, that would have been extremely/inhumanely fast as it has just now been released! (2 days after my initial post on this)

Thanks for adding it to the todo list for the next release!

Manuel

Today i was reading up on Ajax and found that Ajax navigation often uses #

To make matters worse: Facebook sometimes uses "#!" in their URLs according to the google ajax crawling instructions.
(I don't mean we will be indexing Facebook with SEOpanel but it's a big player that uses # for something besides the obvious internal page link...)
https://developers.google.com/webmasters/ajax-crawling/docs/getting-started
We should thread carefully here as instructions written by Google on their developers pages usually seem to carry some weight :p

ps: i just checked and guess what: https://twitter.com/#!/i/connect
The # is everywhere now that i'm looking!!
