Difference between PPC & SEO?

Postby prajan » Fri Oct 22, 2010 8:12 am

I know this might be a little elementary, but what is the main difference between SEO and PPC? Do you consider PPC to be part of SEO?

PPC = pay per click
You pay to get a visitor to your site. Nothing more than that.
No money no visitors...

SEO = Search Engine Optimalization
You get visitors because you rank high in the SERP. (Search Engine Result Pages)
You optimize your entire website, be unique, get quality incomming links, optimize your keywords, add robot.txt etc.
SO the SE (Search Engines) wil notice you, like you, and put you higher in the SERP and rank you higher.
(and not less important and you gain pagerank, internet credibillity, and a many, many, many more people see your site in the SERP)
And thus a lot of people will come to your site, and find you easier. And for a long time, if you keep doing your SEO.
All without paying anything for a single customer...

So if you do your SEO good, you should not need PPC so much.
Because you are already in the top of the SERP!
Both get you visitors, but one at a higher price.
For some compagnies it pays of to do PPC.
for some it doesn't...

Also both need good keyword research, that is something they have in common...

Hope this helps...

PPc is pay per click, meaning, to get visitors to your website you have to pay so no pay no visitor. Whereas in SEO if you get higher rank people can easily find your website, no money needed.

PPC-Pay Per Click is expensive because you need to pay inorder to get a visitor to your site. Everytime a visitor clicks to your site you will have to pay.
SEO-Search Engine Optimization focused on the traffic and rankings on search engines. Here, you get visitors because you rank high in the SERP, no money involve.

PCC only gives you traffic. But I think if you do SEO then it will help you to increase ranking in search engine.
Once you get good ranking in the search engine then you get good visitors.

PPC is one time investment in bringing relevant traffic in your website and expensive one. Seo is a long term oriented work that has better ranking in SERP. SEO aims at organic search improvements and is rather a promotion strategy while PPC is basically advertising.

PPC and SEO both are part of Internet Marketing but PPC is not part of SEO. PPC is paid ad service provided by search engines and SEO is optimization of websites according to the search engine algorithms to achieve the top position of the website for the generic search.

Search engine optimization is what you can do to your website to improve your sites visibility. PPC (pay per click) is where you pay to be seen when some enters your keyword.

PPC

Its paid advertising, and usually attracts around 30% of the clicks when people search for stuff. Like SEO there are rules in order to make a campaign efficient but essentially you pay by the click and the amount of clicks is determined by your bid price, the quality of your landing page, the competitiveness of your keyword (i.e. the amount of advertisers bidding for them) and the click through of your ads.

SEO
Receives around 70% of the clicks, might be free, but you end up spending money on content, links and making changes to your website content management system.

PPC + SEO = Search

Also consider Google Analytics and landing page optimisation (using web optimiser) to increase the ratio of customers to search visitors as high as possible.
